How I Work With Couples Who Hate Being in Front of the Camera

If you’re sitting there thinking, “We’re so awkward in photos” or “We’re not photogenic at all” I promise you, you’re exactly the kind of couple I love working with!

Because here’s the truth: Almost no one shows up to their wedding day feeling like a natural in front of the camera. And the couples who tell me they’re awkward? They usually end up with the most emotional, real, and genuinely beautiful photos.

First, I Don’t Expect You to “Perform”

You don’t need to know how to pose.

You don’t need to practice.

You don’t need to be “good at photos.”

That’s my job.

I’m not showing up expecting you to act like models, I’m showing up to document YOU! The way you laugh together, the way you naturally move, the way you look at each other when you forget anyone else is around.

I Focus on Movement, Not Posing

The fastest way to feel awkward? Being told to stand still and “smile.” Of course I always get a couple traditonal poses but after that my focus is on movement! I use loose prompts to get you moving naturally together.

  • walking together

  • pulling each other in close

  • whispering how much you love her

  • fixing her hair

  • just being together

When you’re moving, you stop overthinking.

And when you stop overthinking, that’s when the magic happens!

Groom effortlessly pulls bride in close for a kiss.

If you feel comfortable with me, everything else becomes easy.

That’s why I’m talking to you throughout the day, not just photographing you. I’m paying attention to your energy, reading what feels natural for you, and adjusting as we go.

Some couples need more direction.

Some need more space.

Some just need a minute to breathe.

You Don’t Need to Be “Photogenic”

You just need to be present.

The photos you’ll love most won’t be the perfectly posed ones. they’ll be the ones that feel like a memory. The ones where you can feel what that moment was like and you can almost forget I was there.

The laugh you didn’t plan.

The way you held each other a little tighter.

The in-between moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

Groom spins bride candidly as they dance at sunset.

If you’re worried about being awkward in front of the camera, you’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it out on your own either.

That’s what I’m here for 🤍
